The best laid plans…

Our plan was to get her session in right after nap time, when she was fresh and happy. Of course, on this particular day, the nap didn’t happen, and Miss S. was not very happy. So, we let her do this for a while-

And pretty soon she was awake and happier-

And ready to be in front of the camera (thank goodness for power naps!)-

In the meantime, I hung out with Miss E., a very mature 4 year old, who gave my teasing right back to me!

Looking into familiar eyes

I’ve photographed his big sister since she was a baby, and they look so much alike at this age! I’d know these baby blues anywhere-

Exploring her world

Miss B. certainly lived up to her initial- as in, busy as a bee! She was fascinated by everything around her, and just wanted to explore. She reminded me to take the time to notice all the beauty and all the interesting things that surround me outdoors. I think that’s one of the nice things about toddlers- seeing the world through their eyes, everything is new again.

She was absolutely adorable in her polka dots- and I just love her glasses!

Urban sessions

At a workshop I attended recently, we had the opportunity to photograph kids in an urban setting.  It was so much fun, and I definitely want to do more of these kinds of sessions. Most of what you see below was in an alleyway, and you’ll notice the wide variety of looks you can achieve in a small area. The textures, backgrounds and light really lend themselves to unique images. Kalamazoo is full of interesting spots, so if you’d like to try something fresh, funky and different, let me know!
