Rainbow baby- Killian is treasured by his family after losses

A rainbow baby is a baby that is born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. In nature, a beautiful and bright rainbow follows a storm and gives hope of things getting better. Having experienced the storm, the rainbow is treasured even more. In a family that has had a loss, nothing can change that fact and the family still remembers and copes with the loss, but hope and a gift has emerged from that dark time. This family had lost two babies in the past two years, so their rainbow baby Killian is even more precious to them.

Although the rainbow is a hopeful and beautiful sign, the emotions that it brings in this case aren’t all bright and happy, so I wanted the symbols to be quieter, more reflective and not totally cheery. I found an amazing source of fleece at Oh So Fleeting that was perfect- subdued colors, soft and beautiful:

( I did Keira’s newborn pictures 8 years ago– so fun to see what a nurturing, kind big sister she is).  They were so cooperative and we got an amazing group shot for Mom pretty quickly. They are so sweet with their new brother, and I know he’s going to be very well loved-new baby with 4 siblings poseIt was great to spend time with you, J. family!
