I remember his session as being such a peaceful one. It was cold, blustery and rainy outside the day we did Ryan’s newborn session, but his parents had a big fire going in the fireplace and it was toasty and warm inside. I set everything up near the warmth of the blaze, and he dozed away for much of the time. Music was playing softly, and the my trusty heartbeat sounds were going. We were at his grandparents’ house, and it was a whole family affair- mom, dad, grandma and grandpa all found their way onto the couch behind me to hang out and watch. Often, I’d hear ‘awww’ or ‘he’s so cute!’ as I would put him into another position or a different hat or wrap. That’s just the best- hearing parents (who are sleep deprived, busy, and figuring out the new routine) being able to take a step back and just observe…really look at this new life and see it for the wonder and the beauty that it is. In the busyness of feeding and diaper changing, it’s nice to have a chance to slow down, step back, and really marvel at the newest member of the family. Meet Ryan:
his mom is almost as big an Etsy (www.etsy.com) fan as I am, and she had collected some darling things before he was born. Hats, wraps, cocoons, ties- she had it all! So cute!
C. family, thank you for inviting me into your home and for just a bit, into your lives. I so enjoyed spending time with you!
