Ben’s newborn photographs were done when he was just a week old, and he couldn’t have been a better newborn model! I remember his older brother was wonderful for his session, too- must run in the family. His mom loves hats on babies, so we managed to work in a few : ). I did his cousin’s newborn photographs a few months earlier, and they loaned us the darling driving cap that he wore. I love the way it looks on little boys-

Of course, no session of newborn photographs is complete without the rest of the family being in on a few. His brother had to be sweet-talked into it (not quite as easy as it was when he was a week old!), but he ended up giving us some really sweet images-

I find I’m using more and more color with newborns these days- maybe I’m needing it after such a long winter (or maybe it’s that I love to shop for babies and have quite a variety of things now!) I still have a soft spot for black and white newborn photographs, though, and I’m in love with the way these look in timeless, simple black and white. Without the distraction of color, you’re drawn right to the beauty of the essence of newborn baby-
