I’ve had the pleasure of photographing both of these girls since they were babies, and I love seeing them every fall! One place we had never been was the beach, so we arranged to meet at South Haven one morning. It was a beautiful morning in Kalamazoo, but when we got to the beach the winds were just about gale force- the red flag was flying and the waves were crashing in. Not the best conditions- hair and sand both blow in your face in that kind of wind. Both of these girls are troopers, so I shot very very fast and we actually managed to get some pictures on the beach and in the dunes before we high tailed it to the car to get warm.

Since we needed a few more, we met in the field for an evening session later in the week. Rain was coming down in parts of Kalamazoo, and I felt a few sprinkles before they came, but miraculously it cleared up just in time. We had a gorgeous sunset and beautiful backlight- my favorite.
