St. Joseph, MI is the charming home of Aimee and her husband, eagerly anticipating the birth of their first baby. Aimee works downtown, and I was thrilled when she suggested we use the building she works in as the location for our session. Downtown St. Joseph is full of vintage buildings from the turn of the last century, with brick walls, huge windows and hardwood floors. Many have been lovingly restored, and the area is so much fun to walk around in. There are lots of small niche boutiques, from antique stores to art galleries and even a pet bakery. I can’t wait to go back and explore some more!
They had Nora’s name chosen, but it was a secret from everyone, so I was honored to be let in on the secret so they could use a pinterest-inspired idea to include her name in the photos in Scrabble tiles. So fun! We made good use of the original wood floors and the exposed brick as backgrounds, and the Victorian fainting couch made a good prop, too. I was having a bit of studio envy there, I have to say! I do love always having a fresh spot to photograph in, though, so I’m going to keep traveling.
Here’s just a sampling of beautiful Aimee’s maternity photographs-
I’m looking forward to meeting Nora and to seeing more of St. Joseph!
If you’re awaiting a baby and would like to have maternity photographs to remember this special time, get in touch with me for more information. I’d love to personalize a pregnancy session for you! Maternity sessions are typically done between 32 and 38 weeks of pregnancy, and sessions take place in your home or at an outdoor location. This took place in St. Joseph, MI, but I travel from South Haven to GR to Detroit for sessions.
