Baby pictures then and now | newborn photography in Portage

by-pictures-Portage-MichiganBaby pictures have come a long way in recent years. In Grandma’s time, if  she had professional baby pictures taken, there were probably only one or two poses, she was past the true newborn phase, and her mom and dad probably weren’t part of the session. When I went looking for baby pictures from that era, I was amazed at one of the first pictures I came across- in an ad that says ‘it’s never too soon to introduce your kids to cola’ :  ).  Yes, things change! Today, the variety of styles of newborn photography has exploded, there are styles and props to suit everyone, and parents and siblings are encouraged to join in so the whole (new) family can be captured. I love the trend, of course, and love being able to be a part of it.

Max was just over a week old at the time his baby pictures were taken. His older sister wasn’t sure she wanted to be part of the group, but we persuaded her to join in for a few, and she was great-

And of course, we couldn’t resist using a few gorgeous handmade wraps and baby boy hats to add to the charm of his baby pictures-

All in all, he was absolutely wonderful for his session, and it was a pleasure to take baby pictures of him with his whole family. Thank you, M. family, for the opportunity to capture Max’s first days and this adorable newborn stage!
