I think newborns are perfectly gorgeous naked, so I’ve never even thought about doing a ‘what to wear’ post for them. For variety, though, the right little hat or headband can be so much fun. I’m about to enable shoppers, so stop reading right here if you don’t want to spend money! I hear there are people who have never heard of Etsy, the online site for buying and selling handmade items (www.etsy.com). Since I have a mild major addiction to it, I just can’t believe there is anyone who is in the dark about this wonderful resource. They have clothing, jewelry, artwork- anything you can imagine. Every vendor has their own little ’store’ within Etsy, and it can be a bit overwhelming, so I thought I’d list just a few of my favorites in case your baby needs a little something fun to wear at a session. If you have favorites you’d like to share, let me know!

There are so many things I love about newborns, and so many facets of their new little lives to capture. Miss V. gave us the whole gamut.
First, the sense of mystery. She’s only been part of the world for a week, and has definite likes and dislikes, character traits and personality- she’s unique and you can’t imagine life without her any more. This kind of image captures for me the beauty and uniqueness of a newborn-

the freshness and innocence of babies-

the way they can totally win their daddy’s heart in no time-

the love and devotion they inspire in their moms-

and their incredible cuteness
and the curve balls they add to the process. This one makes me smile every time I see it- it needs a caption!
And the opportunity to document all these things about beautiful new lives is why I think I have the best job in the world. Thank you to all my clients for trusting me with your precious new babies!
I just love all these sweet new babies I’m seeing lately. The nurses on the Labor and Delivery floor say that they’re in the middle of a mini baby boom in Kalamazoo, so it’s not just my imagination! It’s made me a little slow in blog posting, but I had to show a few of darling Mr. C.-

I love this kid! Bubbly and sassy and just plain fun- add in an old barn, Matilda Jane clothes and a field and I was in heaven!

Her grandparents originally hail from Latvia and the Netherlands, her father grew up in Australia, and her parents work in Africa, so I suspect her passport will look better than most before she’s in kindergarten! Before she started traveling too far, though, we captured her brand new-ness right here in Kalamazoo-

Her daddy is a surfer, and this tattoo has a special surfboard for each family member-

Another baby growing up so quickly-doesn’t seem like that long ago she was a newborn! Miss M. is still adorable, spunky and now on the move-

six months makes! She went from this

to this in the blink of an eye-

Full of personality and smiles, and willing to put up with dressing up- I love this age!

I had this new headband, and when her mom saw it, she asked if it might go well with something from S.’s nursery- I think so!
