Cherry

This one’s mine, and we are loving getting to know her. She is so sweet and mellow and seems to love to learn. Photographing a puppy this age is a bit like photographing a toddler- they don’t take direction, they have a very limited attention span, and they’re quick! It took a few tries to get anything usable, and before we did, we got lots of movement and blur:

The pearls just weren’t her thing, I guess. But with time and patience, we succeeded. Meet the adorable Cherry-

I love taking progression pictures as they grow, so I’m going to use this teddy bear with her from time to time-

Sparky

Oh my goodness, this is one of the fluffiest, softest puppies I’ve ever felt- just look at that long coat! You could lose your hands in all his fuzz. He reminds me of dandelion fluff-

His eyelashes are just amazing- long and almost pure white-

One of these things

…is not like the others. Cashmere was the one yellow lab puppy in her litter of 8- had to laugh when I saw this, because she looks like she feels left out!

Chocolate

lab, that is- and couldn’t you just eat him up?  That soft, wrinkled little belly, that shy little look, those big paws- and yes, he had puppy breath, too….

More to come soon from a photoshoot with lots of puppies- couldn’t resist just a few of this guy for now

Bebe

Havanese terriers are known for their affectionate, playful temperament, and Bebe is a perfect example. Her energy and enthusiasm made her so much fun to work with. She’s being raised to be a service dog (probably a hearing dog for someone who’s deaf), and it already looks like she’ll be a great companion for someone!

Farewell

It was a bittersweet day today as we said goodbye to Filly. It’s time for her to go in for her formal training to be a PAWS service dog. I know she’s ready, but we never are. We’ll miss her boundless optimism and enthusiasm. She never had a bad day, and never met a person she didn’t like. Don’t let the serious looks here fool you- she knew how to get the maximum enjoyment out of every situation, and was  eager for the next adventure. She was always willing to try whatever we asked (although it was often done with her trademark touch of zaniness!). And when things weren’t going so well for someone, she knew just when to come over and quietly snuggle in to offer comfort.

But this isn’t about us- it’s about someone who needs her and is waiting for her. So while we don’t know exactly where life will take her, we do know she’ll be a great companion for someone who needs her, and that makes it all worthwhile. She’s doing what she was born to do.

We’ll miss you, sweet girl, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you- we know you’ll make us proud.

Lily

Miss Lily is a bit shy, very cuddly, and very, very fast. She made us work- but it was so worth it, because she just couldn’t be any cuter!

Christmas dogs, pt 2

I’ll have to play catch up the next few days, because I’ve been neglecting the blog! I did have to show just one more from the mini sessions. Here’s one of the newest puppies in training to be a service dog- 8 week old Laney:

Christmas dog mini sessions

I know my wonderful helpers are eagerly waiting to see some of these, so I quickly picked out a few- but it was so hard to narrow it down! I’m sure there will be more to come in the future, because all the dogs did such a great job. Some are working dogs, some puppies in training, and some are pets, but they were all just a pleasure to work with.

Raiser appreciation, pt 2

A few more of the beautiful puppies we photographed. First is Chloe, who was full of energy, and who thought the basket and leaves were there just for her to chew on. I just love her expression-
