Welcome

Welcome to the blog! I'm a baby and children's photographer in Kalamazoo, Michigan (and surrounding areas). Here you'll find previews of the latest sessions here, news, a few ramblings and probably a puppy picture or two!

Calm

Mr. H. was so good to me- calm for the most part when he was awake, and o-u-t when he was asleep!

Farewell

It was a bittersweet day today as we said goodbye to Filly. It’s time for her to go in for her formal training to be a PAWS service dog. I know she’s ready, but we never are. We’ll miss her boundless optimism and enthusiasm. She never had a bad day, and never met a person she didn’t like. Don’t let the serious looks here fool you- she knew how to get the maximum enjoyment out of every situation, and was  eager for the next adventure. She was always willing to try whatever we asked (although it was often done with her trademark touch of zaniness!). And when things weren’t going so well for someone, she knew just when to come over and quietly snuggle in to offer comfort.

But this isn’t about us- it’s about someone who needs her and is waiting for her. So while we don’t know exactly where life will take her, we do know she’ll be a great companion for someone who needs her, and that makes it all worthwhile. She’s doing what she was born to do.

We’ll miss you, sweet girl, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for you- we know you’ll make us proud.

They run in the family-

the beautiful deep dark eyes, that is- and look at the eyelashes, too! Add the vibrant personalities of these two, and it made for a fun session with a variety of moods!

So many hats…

Part of me has never outgrown playing dress up, and it’s no secret that I love little hats.  Miss J. was the perfect model for me!

Newborn special- back again!

It’s almost February, which means it’s gray, dark and cold in Michigan and I need something to look forward to. And what could be more fun to anticipate than a new baby? I love meeting expectant mothers and documenting the time when they’re awaiting that new little life. So, the ’schedule a newborn session and receive a complimentary maternity session’, first offered last year,  is back for a limited time. Call to book a newborn session by Feb. 28th, and your pregnancy session will be free. Your baby does not have to be born before the end of February- we can schedule in advance for the rest of the year. If you’re expecting, this is a perfect time to schedule a session.

Peas in a pod

These brothers, unlike the siblings in the last post, look so much alike! We looked at big brother B’s newborn pictures while I was there, and I think you could believe you were looking at a picture of C. I just had to go back to find one of B’s pictures, and here are the brothers- new little C. on the left and B. on the right-

B. was amazing with his new brother- love this one of the two of them together-

Night and day

Her brother had downy blond fuzz when I took his newborn pictures, so I was expecting to see another fair baby. Imagine my surprise when I peeked at her and saw this head of hair!

Her brothers were so much fun to watch with her. Every so often they would come over to take a look and they’d say ‘Awww- she looks so cute!’  They’re pretty cute themselves-

Beginnings

Happy new year! I love new beginnings- fresh starts, a sense of possibility and adventure- and new babies are the best kind of new beginning. And lucky for me, I get to experience the miracle of new life and new families often. Here’s Mr. C., an adorably squishy brand new boy and his parents-

Welcomed

This little guy was warmly welcomed by his family before Christmas, and I just had to share a few from his session- can’t you just feel how much they love him already? His brother and sisters were so well behaved that we were even able to get a few of the  four siblings together- not every sibling group can pull that off with a new baby!

Lily

Miss Lily is a bit shy, very cuddly, and very, very fast. She made us work- but it was so worth it, because she just couldn’t be any cuter!
