kids outdoors |kalamazoo nature center session

Photographing kids outdoors in the pretty autumn colors of west MI in September is a dream. When you spend an evening at the Kalamazoo Nature Center for their session, it’s even better! September evening light is so soft and pretty, and the mild temperatures were perfect for walking (and dancing, and running) around in. The Nature Center has gardens, paths, woods and even chickens (already put to bed for the night), and is such a pretty spot. Cora and Penelope are old friends and I love them dearly-  I met Cora as a new baby and have been taking pictures of their family ever since. They are the sweetest girls, and it feels like a play date to get together with them. We ended the session with a ‘tea party’ and dress up dresses, and I just love that little scene. Photographing kids outdoors is a great way to keep them comfortable and happy for the session, and to get a bit of variety, and doing it in the autumn is just the icing on the cake! Here are a few of the images from our evening together-

If you’d like photographs of your kids outdoors, contact me for more information. I’d love to talk about your ideas for a session! Fall colors are going fast, but snow sessions are also a fun possibility (although I hate to think of snow flying…memories of last winter haven’t faded quite enough for that!).
