SJ is the 3 week old baby boy of one of my favorite families, so I was thrilled to meet him. I last saw this sweet family while we were taking his mama’s outdoor maternity pictures. They knew then that SJ had heart issues, and that he would most likely need open heart surgery very soon after birth. No one knew exactly what the situation would be when he was born, because his heart would continue to grow and develop, and all they could do until then was hope and pray. Well, SJ’s condition was an answer to prayer, because he only needed to spend some extra time in the hospital after he was born. He will still need surgery, but it can be done when he’s older and stronger. Thank goodness for the great medical care at U of M’s Mott Children’s hospital!

I was thrilled when I came for his session to see how well he was doing…he looked just as healthy as any other 3 week old baby boy, and was absolutely adorable. His mama shopped a bit for the session (one of my favorite websites for finding hand-crafted baby things, Etsy), and got him this darling cap and pants with suspenders set- love it!
