Photographing a new baby with a tattooed dad is a treat- there’s just something about that combination that I love. I think one of the things I love about it is the contrasts….tough with tender, strong with soft, unmarked with marked. Tattoos are an art form, and one that says so much about a person. They’re an expression of what they hold most dear and important, so to use them as a backdrop for their new baby is so special. In this case, it’s even more special, because Dad is a tattoo artist (you can see more of his work at Art & Soul). Liam was three weeks old at the time of his session, so he’s a little chunkier than some of the babies you see here : ). Love this one of him with his daddy-

can you see why I like the combination of a new baby with a tattooed dad so much?! Another one, this time in black and white. Here you can see how much his daddy was looking forward to meeting him. He had Liam’s name tattooed on his chest before Liam was born- that’s anticipation!

His mama has some beautiful tattoos, too (of course, she has a personal tattoo artist!), and we had to capture those, too. Liam was so alert for these, and I just love his expression here-
