The farm was a dream property- they knew as they saw the listing that this was the place they’d been waiting for. Since they had just recently moved in, they wanted to include the property in their Christmas card pictures. So we spent a lovely afternoon roaming the property, and by the end, I wanted to live there, too! Located in a country setting in Niles, MI, the historic 1840s brick farmhouse sits surrounded by rolling hills, golden fields and pine forests. They and their two dogs have endless walking possibilities right out their back door. The big red barn with the glazed brick milking parlor is just the icing on the cake. We started by the barn and then strolled through the fields-

the dogs were in heaven, chasing tennis balls and racing around with each other. We did manage to get them in one spot long enough to show off their Christmas scarves-

Around every corner there was a new view to fall in love with-

I couldn’t pick a favorite. And the house- gorgeous! It’s built of brick, with an inviting front porch and lots of windows in the back overlooking all the beautiful views. It had the original brick fireplace (with iron pot hook) and oven, and hand hewn beams in the kitchen with the bark still on in spots. The original wood floors with their wide planks were still in beautiful shape, and the plaster moldings and chandeliers were the originals. An addition mirrored the original so well that it felt like it had always been there. They had just begun to decorate, but I could tell that they have great decorating sense and will do a wonderful job with it. All in all, it feels like you’re getting away to a little vacation spot to spend some time there. I loved being able to capture this wonderful couple in their new home!
