Outdoor maternity photos offer so many opportunities for variety, and this session gave us some great locations! I love Michigan fields and woods in the fall, so we knew we wanted to have part of the session in a spot like that. But Jen mentioned that she loved her little town, too, and wondered if we might be able to use some of the vintage architecture there. When I researched Niles, Michigan and saw the historic and picturesque Niles MI train station, I knew the old bricks, rounded walls and colorful doors would make perfect backdrops for us.

This sweet couple just recently moved to west Michigan from the South, and I could have listened to their sweet southern accents all day! They included a bit of their down home heritage by wearing their cowboy boots and including a pair that will fit baby girl one day-

For the rest of their outdoor maternity photos, we moved to a field near their home. The late autumn evening with the setting sun made the grasses here a perfect backdrop-

We even got some beautiful color in the skies with a dramatic sunset. I’m so glad the weather and the colors held out just long enough for us to get our session in. You never quite know how long nice fall weather will last, and this fall was more variable than most.
