Last fall I was so pleased to be invited to be a volunteer photographer for the 2013 Michigan Heart Gallery. The Heart Gallery is a unique traveling exhibit of photographs created to find forever families for children in foster care. Right now in Michigan, there are over 300 children who need adoptive families. I had a great time meeting two of these kids- DaShawn and Bianca. DaShawn, 16, is social with a ready smile. He’s an animal lover, and our mutual love of dogs sparked quite a debate about the best breed to have as our next pet! Bianca is outgoing with a wonderful sense of humor. She likes any outdoor activities- running, football, etc. She’s a talented singer who can also write songs and lyrics.  They were both so much fun to spend time with and talk to, and I know any family looking for a child to adopt would be so lucky to have either one of them join their family!

The Heart Gallery for this year was recently unveiled, and will be touring the state for the rest of the year. Help them raise awareness of these wonderful kids waiting for adoption and spread the word to see the exhibit when it’s near you!
